Newman_InlineJeff Newman of Faith Baptist Bible College of Ankeny, Iowa, presented a workshop on helping your church walk through the wilderness experiences. Newman based his workshop on Psalm 63, which was written by King David as he fled from his rebellious son Absalom. The psalm presents David’s three pursuits in the midst of his suffering: He sought God earnestly, reflected on God continually, and praised God submissively. Newman presented each of these pursuits and related them to one’s personal life. He said, “As faith in God grows in the midst of the wilderness, we will commit ourselves to developing these same pursuits in our own lives and to helping others develop them in theirs.” Jeff’s book, Dependence in the Wilderness, is an excellent resource that further develops David’s pursuits in Psalm 63. It is available from Regular Baptist Press.
