Curry1_inlinePastors’ wives of all ages gleaned from the instruction and encouragement given by Tonda Curry at a GARBC Conference women’s workshop.

Introducing Tonda, daughter Carla Curry Poling, pastor’s wife at Harvest New Beginnings in Oswego, Illinois, the host church for the conference, set the context of the unique role of pastors’ wives and the positive and negative tensions that exist in that role.

A veteran pastor’s wife, Tonda challenged the women to have strong personal faith and to pass on that faith to their children. She taught rich, Scripture-filled content that communicated to women the importance of assuming their role in a positive manner, relying on the promises of God. She encouraged the women to work on getting balance in their lives and ridding themselves of negative attitudes and bitterness—all to the goal of accomplishing God’s will for all the people in their realms of relationships.

In responding to the workshop, pastor’s wife Gwen Schatz said, “I am grateful for the challenge of walking closer to Christ. If we are not in the Word, we cannot be strengthened in our faith.” A special guest at the workshop was pastor’s wife Martha Tyler of Brownsburg, Indiana, who mentored Tonda in ministry.
