Teens at the GARBC Conference are enjoying a week of fellowship, service, and Bible study through Students Alive. On Tuesday, June 24, Students Alive began with a deeper look into the gospel—what it is and how it defines who we are as believers in Christ. Students met in core groups to discuss the truth that their identity should be found in Jesus Christ alone and what that practically looks like in their lives.

Pastor Scott Greening of Great Commission Baptist Church, Schaumburg, Ill., spoke to the teens about how Jesus is in a place and position to help them when they are in trouble. He encouraged students to seek Jesus no matter what circumstances they may be facing.

During the afternoon, a group of 25 teens traveled to Starkey Road Baptist Church, Seminole, Fla., to help pass out fliers for an upcoming sports outreach summer camp. Students faithfully braved the heat, walking door to door with Starkey Road’s Tom Benefiel, pastor of outreach and discipleship, and Brandon Hancock, pastor of student ministries, to get the word out about the upcoming camp. Students enjoyed the opportunity to serve and encourage the church. The outreach activity ended with iced beverages and a greatly appreciated air-conditioned ride back to the hotel.

The day ended with a message from Isaac Denton, youth pastor at Daniels Road Baptist Church, Fort Myers, Fla. He encouraged the students with the gospel’s application to their practical, everyday living.

Following the last session, the students kicked back and relaxed from their afternoon in the Florida heat by enjoying a movie night together.
