Ministry is draining. Whether it’s the busyness of a growing ministry, the heartache of a ministry in conflict, the struggle of a lethargic ministry, or the needs of a new ministry, each of these demands immense time and utmost attention. When we add to our ministry responsibilities the needs of our own family and friends who have health concerns, exciting life events, and personal needs—not to mention our own needs—quickly it becomes apparent that a life of ministry is exhausting!

We must take time to experience rejuvenation and renewal to keep our ministries moving forward. On a personal level, renewal strengthens our commitment and walk with God, improves our relationships, and enables us to better meet family members’ needs. To care for all these demands, we must cry out, “Lord, renew our strength!”

This year’s GARBC Conference will take a focused look at the renewal that comes from God. Dearborn, Mich., provides a unique backdrop to experience that renewal. Dearborn is a city that has experienced the extreme joy of a thriving economy and the gut-wrenching pain of a crashing infrastructure—it is a city that is in the process of experiencing renewal. Old, abandoned buildings are being torn down and replaced with new businesses and parks. Industries are being recharged. The auto industry, which once was the source of the booming economy, has struggled in recent years. The Henry Ford Museum and Greenfield Village illustrate how the Ford Motor Company has experienced ongoing renewal, a process that was and continues to be a necessity to stay effective.

Our host facility, Adoba Hotel and Conference Center (formerly Dearborn Hyatt), is yet another illustration of the renewal process. It recently changed ownership and is being converted to a green hotel to stay viable for the future. The facility provides ample lounge areas and spacious rooms perfect for fellowship with friends.

At the conference, meaningful worship and prayer times will shape the general session to encourage renewal. Our keynote speaker, Dave Doran, along with Mike Augsburger, George Coon, Doug Crawford, John Greening, Jon Jenks, and Mark Shaw will bring their unique experiences as they candidly open God’s Word and challenge us to examine our lives and experience true refreshment in Christ.

Come to Dearborn, Mich., to pray together, laugh together, cry together, and encourage one another as we experience renewal as individuals, families, churches, and as a Regular Baptist fellowship. Come get your motor running!
