The first morning session of the GARBC conference on Tuesday, June 24, began with worship and praise. Attendees sang together under the music leadership of Mark Cizauskas, pastor of First Baptist Church of Rochester in Michigan.

Before the morning’s message began, Dan Nichols, lead pastor of Restored Church, Wilkes-Barre, Pa., shared the challenges of starting a church in a depressed area. Since the church began in the summer of 2012, Restored Church has seen its numbers grow from 40 to a high of 450 at its grand opening last fall. Attendance currently ranges from 90 to 200 each week. With a mission statement of “Multiplying Followers of Jesus,” Restored Church is seeing success, but there is still much work to be done.

Gary Anderson, president of Baptist Mid-Missions, delivered the morning’s message, “The Marvels of the Gospel,” focusing of Romans 8. He shared stories of how previous generations in his family came to know the “precious reality and safety in Jesus” and how Christ can “make a difference in a family.”

His multipoint message, which included “The Case for Prosecution” and “The Response of the Forgiven,” highlighted how the gospel overcomes condemnation. Recalling a quote he once heard, he said, “If the Bible were a ring, the book of Romans is a diamond and chapter 8 is the sparkle.”

Morning and evening corporate worship sessions will be taking place throughout the week. Don’t miss out on the incredible speaking. Register for free and join us online!
